Creating families, with pride

Starting your family can become a reality at Beverly Hills Fertility and we will be there for you every step of the way.

Starting a Family

Overcoming norms Creating families in all forms

At your consultation, your doctor will want to get to know you and what your vision for a family looks like. We can then walk you through your options including: intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF) using donor sperm, egg donation, gestational carrier services, egg or sperm freezing, and more.

It is our aim to celebrate uniqueness and to create beauty and life over it. This, of course, can only be achieved if everyone is allowed in. That is your reproductive right. That is our pledge.
Let’s start your parenthood journey here.

Understanding LGBTQ+
Fertility Treatment Options

No matter who you are or what your relationship status is, you can be confident that you will experience excellent care from us. Your assigned care coordination team and physician at BHF will walk you through a comprehensive range of reproductive services, including fertility-related difficulties particular to LGBTQ+ patients’ needs

Growing a family becomes a reality with BHF, with the help of an egg, sperm, or embryo donation as needed. Simply said, we think that having a family is a right, and we will be there for you every step of the way, from the initial consultation through the post-conception period.

Exploring more treatment options

Our treatment options offered to the LGBTQ+ community usually include IUI or IVF with donor sperm, egg donation, and gestational carrier services. In addition, egg or sperm freezing (cryopreservation) is an option for people who want to postpone childbearing or undertake gender affirmation treatment. Our LGBTQ+ patients are guaranteed to have great possibility of creating families with the availability of efficient reproductive techniques at BHF.

It’s necessary to keep in touch with your fertility nurse and treatment planning team once you’ve decided on the best course of action for you. Depending on how you decide to proceed, more infectious illness tests may be necessary. This additional testing may be mandated by law and must be completed within a strict timeframe.

For same-sex couples seeking to use an egg or sperm donor, we can help put you in touch with a reputable donor agency.

Considerations for Lesbian Couples

In most cases, couples determine who will carry the pregnancy. This might be due to a personal preference or medical concerns. Some couples decide to share the responsibility of subsequent pregnancies. Blood testing to measure hormone levels and a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to check the health of the uterus and fallopian tubes will be performed on whichever spouse will carry this pregnancy.

Donation of sperm

It will also be necessary to pick donor for sperm. Though BFHC is not a sperm bank, we deal with several nationally accredited sperm banks and can assist you with your choices. Another possibility is to employ a known sperm donor, such as a friend or family member who is not biologically linked to the egg source. Regardless of whatever choice you select, we can assist and guide you throughout the process.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) using donor sperm

Reciprocal IVF- IVF cycle to retrieve eggs from one partner, fertilization with donor sperm, and embryo transfer into the uterus of the other partner.
The decision of which partner will carry the pregnancy can be based on personal preference or medical concerns. Some couples decide to share the responsibility of subsequent pregnancies.

Lesbian couple’s IVF procedure is a little more difficult since the cycle can happen in a few different ways. The IVF cycle can be done in the usual way, with one spouse going through the full process but using donor sperm. Some couples decide that one spouse will supply the egg and the other will carry the pregnancy.

This is a more involved procedure. Both spouses will be tested and given medicine to help them conceive. The egg donor’s partner will also go through an egg retrieval operation. The eggs will be inseminated with donor sperm, and the embryos will be transplanted into the uterus of the other partner after they have matured.

Considerations for Gay Couples

Fertilization of donor eggs using sperm from one or both partners followed by embryo transfer into a gestational carrier.
Gay men who want to start a family through reproductive treatments will usually thoughtfully decide which partner’s sperm will be used, or will attempt to have one child from one partner’s sperm and one from the other.

Donation of Eggs

Following that, the couple will meet with the BHF team to select an egg donor. You can pick among BHF egg donors, outside agency donors, or even a family member or close friend. The egg donor will be subjected to a thorough examination to determine her hormone levels and confirm that she is clear of illness.

If you’re confused how to choose an egg donor, whether anonymous or known, our fertility nurses can assist you.

Finally, our staff will connect you with a gestational surrogacy service and attorney. A gestational carrier is a woman who bears a pregnancy for another partner but is not related to the kid biologically. A surrogate is a woman who bears the pregnancy as well as donates the egg. A gestational carrier, rather than a typical surrogate, is used usually in the United States.

It’s also feasible to use a friend or family member as a gestational carrier. We will work directly with you during this process, helping you through the benefits and drawbacks of each option so that it is as stress-free as possible.

The IVF treatment cycle will begin once you’ve found a gestational carrier, an egg donor, and a sperm supplier. The pre-cycle and cycle injectable drugs will be given to the egg donor to start the cycle. The eggs will be collected and fertilized in the laboratory with the chosen sperm once the donor is ready for egg retrieval. The resultant embryos will be developed further in the laboratory before being placed into the gestational carrier a few days later
